Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

This is a day work position working weekdays. Part-time or job share may be considered.

Location

Prison facilites are located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston. This position is based at Risdon Vale in the Staff Development and Training Unit (located in the Training Building). Some intrastate travel may be required.

The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).

About the role

The Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) contributes to a safer Tasmania by keeping in secure custody those sentenced by the Courts, and providing the best opportunity for prisoners to stop re-offending within a secure, safe and decent environment that reflects the values and opportunities of the wider community it serves.

The Staff Development and Training Unit (STDU) is responsible for:

  • the recruitment of Correctional Officers, and non-uniform employees including administration, allied health and trades roles.
  • developing and delivering the initial mandatory training of all new Correctional Officers
  • managing training and career development opportunities for all TPS employees

The STDU has recently restructured and this is a new role supporting the Recruitment Manager to review, develop and implement a range of recruitment strategies and practices across the TPS. The Administrative Support Officer (Recruitment) TPS will provide administrative, and operational support to assist in the delivery and progression of recruitment and selection activities. This includes coordinating applicant assessments, providing verbal and written advice to applicants and hiring managers, undertaking routine investigations into recruitment and selection compliance matters and supporting marketing strategies. This role will also participate in information sessions which are held periodically on a state-wide basis.

Desirable Requirements
  • Qualifications in a human resource, recruiting, marketing or behavioural science related discipline.
  • Current driver’s licence.
